Horizon Receives a Three Million Dollar Pledge
Stan Russell

What a great journey we are on here at Horizon Community Church! This year the people of Horizon pledged $1 million to Kingdom Builders, or missions! That means that we will build another house in Cambodia to rescue young children from sex-trafficking, that we will help build a warehouse for food for the hungry in Ethiopia, that we will significantly increase our monthly support of over fifty missionaries whom we partner with around the world and much, much more.
We have such a big vision. It includes significant facilities for our high school and church, as well as a heart to transfer the DNA of reaching to the world and caring about the needs of our community and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with all who are associated with Horizon. We all know that we can’t accomplish what the Lord has given us to do unless He shows up in great ways.

Recently God has moved upon the heart of one of his servants to generously pledge $3 million toward a new building on the Tualatin site. I believe that our Kingdom Builders pledges are one of the main reasons that the Lord is blessing us with this incredible gift.

The new building will have a gym and a fine arts center and will serve the youth of our high school, church and community well. It will be a facility that God will use to transfer the vision to student’s hearts to reach the world with Christ’s love. We still have much to do to see this building come into existence, as more than twice this amount is needed to erect the structure. However, we are extremely excited and grateful to see that God is using a catalyst giver to motivate us to start raising funds toward the completion of this facility. We are hopeful and prayerful that the building could be completed in the next two to three years.

I want to thank God for his wonderful provision. The Bible says this in 1 Chronicles 29 after great gifts were given toward God’s house:

1 Chronicles 29:10-14:  10 “Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 12 Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. 13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. 14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. (NIV)

We give God the praise and glory for this wonderful pledge and I ask that you will pray with us for the completion of the facilities that God has given us the vision to build for His children, His purposes and His glory.

Blessings,

Pastor Stan
