Wherever You Are, Be All There
“What do you have for me to do today, Lord?” That is a great question to ask the Lord each morning when we get out of bed. One thing you can know is that He does have something for you to accomplish, even if it is the smallest encouragement to a fainthearted saint.
Too often we are people who see the grass as greener on the other side. We think, “I’m better than this. My skills are suited better for a bigger, more visible role,” or even, “I am not appreciated here.” So we look beyond where we are to think of what ministry could be in a new location. The problem with this kind of thinking is that we can miss important assignments and breed a spirit of being discontented. The bible says:
…I have learned to be satisfied with the things I have and with everything that happens. Philippians 4:11b (NCV)
If God wants to move you, He will move you. The best way to find His perfect will is to serve faithfully right where you are, keep your heart in tune with Him and keep your hands and eyes on what He has given you to do today. He tells us in His word how important it is to Him that we focus on what is before us right now.
Colossians 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (NIV)
When we follow faithfully right where we are at, we can be sure God will help us find out what His call and destiny for our lives is in the future. Don’t get nervous about where you should be. You love Him and He won’t let you miss it. He is bigger than that!
The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me… Psalm 138:8a (NIV)
Keep serving God right where you are with all your heart, be faithful to Him where you are today and He will be faithful to put you in the right place at the right time for His will!
So pray it, “Lord, what do you have for me to do today?” Walk in that and trust Him. He will bless your todays and lead you to your tommorows. Wherever you are, be all there. In doing this, you set yourself up to be the faithful servant that He promotes tomorrow.
Grace and Truth,
Pastor Stan
