Wired for Relationships
Jayson Price

While on vacation this summer, I was sitting on the deck of my rental home and was overwhelmed by the beauty of God’s creation.  Imagine, spending time each day with God while being surrounded by rocky peaks and two sparkling blue lakes all in perfect view.  As I marveled at all this beauty, I came upon a verse in Psalms that put it all in perspective.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. Psalm 8:3-5; NLT

How are we not overwhelmed by a sunset on a clear day over the ocean, or a rocky peak that is topped with white snow? Do we not feel so very small on a clear dark night under a sky that is illuminated with a million clusters of stars?  We may be small in comparison to these, but the truth is that God considers us the crown of his creation!  He was mindful of us as he said,

Let us make man in our image, in our likeness… Gen 1:26a.

God created us for relationships, and he is a bit of an expert in the matter.  For all eternity he has existed in perfect unity as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Therefore, if we bear his image, we are wired to develop and enjoy a deep connection with him and with each other.  Horizon Families is built on this truth.  Our goal is to grow meaningful relationships with students and their parents.  We do this by creating a safe environment for students to discover and growth their faith, while encouraging and equipping parents through an ongoing partnership. Together, we are mindful of one of the greatest gifts God has given us, the gift of relationships.
